Ended up getting more fishes from walmart, 2 goldfish, 2 Rosy Reds and 2 algae eaters, talked to another customer who said that she kept them in with her Betta no problem. so i got one per tank. That afternoon, one died. took him back got a new one plus 2 to spare. So now we're up to 10 fishes. well, next morning 2 more algae eaters ended up dead.
Well, the 2nd original first Betta decided to finally give up the ghost on Monday morning. :( i called the pet store and they said they wouldn't' have another shipment in till Thursday, so they took down my info so i didn't have to hold on to the body for 4 days. (ick) (especially when i had two algae eaters dead as well!)
Bummed me out, but he'd been acting on his deathbed for a while, surprised he lasted as long as he did truthfully. Lizzie was sad. Wanted to "do somefin" to bring him back to life. i told her it wouldn't work. her face got really sad. but she bounced back in 3 minutes. she didn't' react to the other ones.
I had one more die today, it was fine earlier, but this evening, just kaput. ugh. quite annoying. so i won't replace them at all. Hoping this Betta stays happy and healthy and the next one does too.

awww, I hate the dying fish. We went through that a lot last year. Even Jackson's favorite fish "silver" kicked the can. So, we went into the whole ritual of the water burial with a "bye-bye fishy" and that seems to pacify mine. Of course, it doesn't work when you have to haul carcasses back to the store. Good luck on the next batch!
